I know you’ve seen them popping up all over Facebook, Instagram & Linkedin.
Those annoying skin posts!
You’re probably wondering why I spend so much time posting skin stuff because everywhere you turn there’s more information about the skin & how to care for it, treat it, DIY it to save money, shop smart, etc.
Do you want to know the honest truth why I bother doing all this?
I am blessed with a passion for skin, a passion for helping others change their lives by helping them with their skin.
And I LOVE to educate anyone who will listen to me about how important it is to correctly care for your skin!
Here’s the problem with skin information out there today…
Everywhere you turn for information are from those who loves the skin, not someone who is licensed, trained and educated in the skin.
It’s kinda scary what’s out there in the information world on skin care, because most of the information that I read is false and done incorrectly can cause major damage to your skin.
Here’s some of those claims to “great skin” or “clear skin” or “erase your wrinkles for good”
Use a skin roller poking holes in in your skin to allow for product penetration?
Exfoliate daily, even twice daily?
Strip the skin of oil and hide acne?
Reading that sounds awful. So why are you listening to those so-called skin experts?
Those “experts” are people who love skin & created a business around it.
They’re not trained or educated in skin and if a major problem came up, they wouldn’t know what to do to fix it or even HOW to fix it.
They would most likely sell you another product or product line to “fix the problem.”
This is NOT fine because your skin problems are not being solved! Your skin problems are getting worse & costing you money that isn’t worth spending.
Since 2003, I’ve been a licensed esthetician and working hands-on with clients. This hands-on experience has been my greatest teacher, because I’ve learned to read the skin. I’ve learned how to look for reactions, redness, irritation. I can FEEL underlying breakouts or bumps that are telling me something isn’t right and your skin needs a change.
My goal isn’t just to sell you a bunch of products, my goal is to get your skin on a consistent routine that feels good, delivers results and you feel happy about doing twice a day.
Oh and if you’re using the right products on your skin, you’re saving money over the long-term because you’re not constantly buying new products that aren’t working for your skin. You’re only investing in the ones that do work.
If something’s working great for your skin, why change it?
Well, seasons change, our lifestyles change, life changes, hormones change, etc. As a licensed esthetician, I’m aware of those factors and know how to change your skin care products accordingly.
In the midwest, our weather goes from one extreme to the other, so our skin care MUST change to meet the needs depending on the season.
For example, a client who can tolerate a gel or foaming cleanser in the humid summer months, will not be able to tolerate that cleanser in the dry, winter months. I need to switch out their cleanser for a creamy one. Something that will still clean their skin, but not continue to dry it out.
I’ll also need to change their night cream to something a little heavier in winter, again to fight the dryness their skin is experiencing.
This isn’t something that an untrained “expert” knows or can understand.
Using over-the-counter products isn’t your best option.
Most lines are all the same, just different packaging and different brand names. The bases are all the same, the manufacturers alter a few ingredients here & there.
Professional products CAN be pricy, but again, you’re investing in your skin and using products that are working for your skin. If you’re smart about it and trust your esthetician, you end up saving money in the long-term because you’re only buying what you need.
One thing that I also like to point out to my clients is that their home care routine is completely customized to meet their needs.
Unlike OTC skin care lines, they fit one skin type and that’s it.
Professional lines can be mixed up to meet specific skin conditions, such as acne, dry skin and T-zone oil all in one.
It depends upon the combination of cleansers, serums & moisturizers used, but that can only be determined after I work on your skin and really get to understand what’s going on.
Education is key
We all know that school is super-important because without it, we lack knowledge. Knowledge IS power.
My goal as a licensed esthetician is to educate you to help you understand your skin, how it works, how it functions and why you might be experiencing problems.
If I can gift you that education, then I’ve done my job. I love sharing my knowledge with both clients and consumers.
We ALL deserve to have beautiful skin we are happy with, because when your skin looks good, you feel good on the inside. When you feel good on the inside, you can accomplish anything you want!
Beauty truly does come from the inside, but if you don’t look your best on the outside, how can you feel beautiful inside?
That’s where I come in.
Listen to my knowledge, take in the education that I provide to you and really get to understand what’s going on with your skin.
Educate yourself as much as you can and find a skin expert you can trust.
Now it’s YOUR turn. What skin questions or concerns do you have?
Please comment below your concerns or skin questions…
