We are already into February!
The groundhog saw his shadow; spring is coming!
Love is in the air!
And you’re feeling miserable this time of year, right?
Why?

Women don’t even realize it, but we are horrible at self care & when we are lacking this crucial step in our daily lives, we end up unhappy because we are not filling up our own bucket.
As mothers, we are always worrying about our kids, families, spouses, work, home, school, our family’s schedules, etc
As a result, we put very little effort into that most important “me time” every day.
Here’s the thing…self care is simple! It’s not as complex as we believe it to be.
Most of us think self care & automatically think massage, facial or mani/pedi. While that is an important component to self care, that’s not the ONLY way to love yourself.
There are tons of simple, easy to do self care tips that I’m going to share with you today so you can start right now!
Before I get into those fun tips, I’m going to explain why self care is so important on a daily basis. Lastly, I’m going to share with you my fun February self care weekly challenge so you can have a little fun this month!
Why Self Care?

The best analogy to explain self care is to think about flying when the flight attendant stands up in the middle of the aisle, showing safety instructions (that no one ever pays attention to).
Joking aside, they do touch on a key point; “put YOUR oxygen mask on first before assisting others.” Why do they always say that phrase?
Self care is like the oxygen mask. If you don’t put yours on first, you will be of no use to others around you, especially your family. They are the ones to suffer first.
Trust me, I’m guilty at lacking in the self care department! I’m a single mom of 3 kids, ages 6, 7 & 11. I run a skin care biz in Oak Brook, I attempt to do social media daily to promote my biz and I have a life outside my kids’ worlds.
But if I can manage to squeeze in 5 minutes a day, I guarantee you can too!
Here’s what I’ve learned about self care…women feel GUILTY about putting ourselves first. It’s like we’re brainwashed to believe that the only way to make yourself happy is to give to others & give up on yourself every single day.
Today I’m here to change that thinking and tell you it’s OK. Actually, it’s more than OK, it’s important to your health and overall well-being.
You will be a better mother, partner, employee, biz owner, friend, daughter, sister, cousin, etc when you start to put your own needs before those around you. I promise that once you get over the whole guilt thing, you will feel so much happier that you took a chance on yourself.
How can you incorporate self care into your daily life?

Here are some easy-to-do tips
- Get up 10 minutes early to sit in silence & enjoy that hot cup of coffee
- Read a book before bed
- Buy yourself a bouquet of beautiful flowers & put them where you will see them throughout the day
- Take a walk around the block
- Go for a run or walk
- Go shopping alone
- Close your eyes & take 5 deep breaths 2-3 times a day
- Meditate for 5 or 10 minutes
- Sleep in
- Treat yourself to a meal alone
These are all things you can do at home or in a short period of time. Remember, you ARE worth it!
I have tons of tips but these are a few to get you started. Have fun with it & if you have other tips you would love to share with me, I’m open to hear them because I’m always up for trying new things!
Who’s ready for a challenge?

We are in this together! Who doesn’t need a cheerleader or accountability partner to make sure you’re sticking to your self care this month?
To make sure you stick with it until March 1, I’m challenging you to a self care challenge!
It’s simple…all you have to do is something for at least 5 minutes a day. I gave 10 examples, but you can add more & find what you love to do.
If you find what works and you love it, do that daily. As long as your feeling fulfilled and happy, then you are succeeding at your goal of daily self care.
Yes, you’re going to have days when it’s harder & you just don’t want to. Those days are the most crucial. Those are the days when you need to bump it up a bit.
Those days you need a little more TLC, schedule yourself a massage, facial or mani/pedi because you will need it!
What’s the self care challenge?

Every week I’ll be posting on Instagram & in my weekly newsletter a self care challenge.
Your job is to accept the challenge & do something for you every day.
Then, I would love to bump it up a bit & challenge you to post your self care pics on Instagram and Facebook every week.
If you’re enjoying this & having fun, please post more! I will be keeping track, so use the hashtags:
