Over the last 15 years as a licensed esthetician, a LOT has changed.
When I started, there was no social media.
I would sit at my old job & cold call people because I wanted clients in my treatment room and didn’t like sitting around with nothing to do.
There were no YouTube tutorials, blogs were just getting started & weren’t really a thing.
Even direct sales skin care companies didn’t exist like they do today.
Social media has brought a LOT of great changes and opportunities for women who want to share their expertise & knowledge with the world.
I use Social media as best as I can with the tools and knowledge I have…
I have a BIG problem with the information being tossed out to consumers who are just seeking answers.
Almost ALL of this information is either FALSE or someone’s personal opinion of something they’ve tried and really liked.
Let’s go back to that Charcoal mask craze that went viral because of social media…
How many of you are now suffering from damaged skin (without even knowing it) because you were constantly using a product that you though was good for your skin?
You probably don’t even realize the damaged that mask caused to your skin!
Maybe now your skin is dry, sensitive, or maybe now you’re suffering from acne or dark spots all over your face or even worse…
WRINKLES!!!!!
How are we not aware that these products are damaging?
The problem is that we are listening to what’s viral or trending on social media, NOT what’s actually good for your skin.
Coming from a licensed esthetician with hands-on experience in a treatment room for 15 years, I have to say that most people are just trying to figure out their skin’s problems without seeking out an expert or spending top dollar for a facial or esthetician-recommended products.
I get it, I’m a consumer too & always looking for ways to keep money in my bank account.
When it comes to your skin and health, it’s time to make a change and seek out professionals who have studied and are trained correctly.
Anyone can sell skin care
That statement is actually really scary, because there are so many factors that go into the skin and the biology & chemistry of our skin that unless you really know how the skin functions and what certain products and/or ingredients do, you can be causing serious harm to your skin.
Harm that may not be reversible!
Let me ask YOU a question..
Why do you go seek out the advice of a doctor?
Because you know that doctor spend many years in school, did hands-on training, took boards to receive their license to practice and now has to keep that license current through more educational trainings and seminars.
Did you know that Estheticians ALSO have to study hard in school, do hands-on training, take state board exams and EARN our licenses? We then have to maintain our license through educational classes and trainings as well.
So my new question to you is…
Why on earth would you seek out the advice of a random “beauty expert” on social media who has no formal training or a license?
We are all seeking that magic serum or cream that is going to finally get rid of our skin problems for good.
That is why you turn to social media, because it’s easy and right at your fingertips.
Oh yeah, and it’s also free!
Today, I am going to share with you the differences between a beauty blogger and a licensed professional, because it’s time you started listening to someone who actually knows what they’re talking about.
What can a licensed esthetician or professional offer you?
To start, our education in school requires hours of biology and chemistry. We need to understand the way the skin functions.
We also have to learn ingredients, the chemistry makeup of products, the chemistry of our skin so that we can understand how certain products react or don’t with the skin and how to manipulate the skin to allow for product penetration.
We also understand how to fix a problem in the skin through treatments, products and internal health and wellness.
Our skin is an organ and we need to understand that it is there to protect our internal organs. Skin is super complex and we may not realize how much damage it will accumulate over the years.
A good example of how estheticians can help with the skin, is acne.
Acne is so hard to treat because it has multiple causes.
Most people run immediately to a Dermatologist who prescribes topical and oral medications. While this works for most, it is only a temporary fix.
In order to fix your skin for good, you MUST get to the source of the problem.
That means what is going on INSIDE your body that is causing the inflammation on the skin.
Remember, our skin is an organ, so it’s connected to our internal organs. Our skin is smart & will show you that there’s a problem inside your body before we even get sick.
Use acne as a sign that something isn’t right inside!
Fix the source, fix your skin for good!
I didn’t suffer from acne till I was 26 and once I went off birth control pills, my skin immediately began to breakout.
With each of my 3 pregnancies, my skin cleared up each time, so I just assumed it was hormonal acne and once my hormones regulated, my acne would go away.
I treated my skin topically and would get frustrated & embarrassed when I went out, especially being a licensed esthetician & having acne. I was worried my clients wouldn’t take me seriously.
After baby #3 was 9mos old, I did a 14-day cleanse to drop the rest of my baby weight.
Within 2 weeks, my skin completely cleared up!
The problem wasn’t my hormones, it was my diet. My gut was inflamed because I am sensitive to dairy. Once I gave up dairy, my skin stayed clear & acne-free.
When I eat too much, within 2 days, my skin begins to breakout again.
I’m still working to heal my gut and am doing better at tolerating dairy, but only in very small amounts. If I do too many days in a row, my skin suffers.
I’ve learned over the past 5 years that eating dairy just isn’t worth it.
What is triggering your skin’s problems?
This is why you need a licensed esthetician or naturopathic doctor to help you find out the source of your skin’s problems. This will help you clear up your skin for good.
Once you know what the problem is, you can easily fix your skin!
Another added bonus to estheticians is that we can completely customize your skin care products.
This is awesome because then you won’t be wasting money on products that don’t work. We take the guess work out for you.
We know skin and once we do a facial or treatment on you, can understand what’s causing your skin’s problems.
Our products are formulated in small batches and we buy directly from the companies. Our active ingredients are higher because we are licensed. The best part is that there are very little fillers in our products because they are made in smaller batches.
Once you understand your skin, you will only need to buy products that match your needs. No more buying the latest & greatest trending product, because you know that just won’t work or won’t offer the solutions you’re looking for.
PLUS…esthetician recommended products will make your skin feel good and you will see results!
Ok, next up, the so-called beauty experts and why they just can’t provide you the solutions you’re looking for.
Why NOT to use a “beauty expert’s” skin advice
Beauty bloggers and all those magazine’s beauty experts are the biggest target from manufacturers because they want their products talked about on social media and in magazines.
These big companies are always sending them free products and information to share with the world.
The sad part is, almost every product is exactly the same and even if one is more expensive than the other, you’re basically paying for the name, NOT the quality of ingredients.
These products are mass produced in huge quantities and end up sitting on warehouse shelves for years before they are even brought to the stores & put on the shelves.
Most companies make similar products and then re-package them per each brand.
The companies then find celebrities to endorse their products and then send them to beauty bloggers and magazine “experts” so they can then share their personal opinion of these products to the world.
You read this & think, “oh this is it, this is the product that’s going to change my skin” but is it?
Nope!
You read another magazine & find another “solution” but again, same thing happens.
Then what ends up happening is you have all this product sitting in your bathroom collecting dust or use them randomly which means that the product may be expired or spoiled. Now you run into causing skin sensitivity, acne or harming your skin due to expired or spoiled products.
Here’s the problem with beauty blogger and magazine skin experts
They are sharing either trending products OR they are giving you their opinion about what works for their skin.
They have friends & co-workers with different skin types, so they try different products out too and get everyone’s opinion and thoughts about which ones they like best.
THEN…they write about it.
You read it and buy that.
Big companies WIN!
But your skin ends up suffering because it’s not the right product for YOU.
You waste money time and time again on products that you want to help but just aren’t.
Free advice is not the best advice, because even though the advice is free, you are wasting your money on products that aren’t going to help solve your skin’s problems.
These products are either making your skin worse or just not doing anything to help make your skin look or feel better.
Why am I sharing this?
Honestly, I want to help.
I want to see your skin change and I want to see you have the skin you deserve to have.
We all have 1 skin on our bodies and what we do to it every single day is what impacts the way you will always look and feel about yourself.

You can’t!
Once you figure out what works for your skin and purchase the right solutions, your skin will be happy and your confidence will perk back up.
