Skincare Trends of 2025

The Skincare Trends of 2025 are here!

You’re scrolling through your social feed, and there it is again: another influencer showing off her flawless, glowing skin. She swears by a miracle cream, and you think, “If it works for her, it has to work for me!” So you buy it. You try it. But weeks go by, and…nothing. The glow? Nowhere to be found. “Why does skin care have to be so frustrating and expensive?” you wonder. Here’s the part they don’t tell you: great skin isn’t about copying someone else’s routine. It’s about YOUR skin’s unique needs. As we start the new year off, let’s dive into the top skincare trends of 2025.

🚨 Reminder: We don’t recommend buying everything on the list just because “it’s in”. Instead, let’s focus on tried and true treatments and products that work and have stood the test of time. Let’s dig in!

Milky Toners

We have learned that traditional toners strip and dry the skin. Milky toners are trending because they are gentle on the skin, similar to the concept of a cream cleanser. Here’s the truth about toners: while many love using a toner, they are an unnecessary step in your skincare routine. Cleansers nowadays are pH balanced so they don’t alter your skin forcing you to need a toner.

Our Expert Opinion: Skip the hype of a milky cleanser and if you love using a toner, we recommend our aloe-based pH Toner from Nelly DeVuyst

Glycolic Toners

Another toner is on the rise, and we believe this ingredient should not be used in a toner. Exfoliants should not be used daily, because they can break down the skin’s barrier and cause dry skin. However, glycolic acid use has been increasing in awareness and searchability.

Our Expert Opinion: Using glycolic acid daily is not recommended. If you do feel that you need to use an Alpha Hydroxy Acid, we recommend our Glicoisdin8 soft cream to use 3 times a week under your day moisturizer to improve skin texture and decrease fine lines.

Red Light Therapy

We love red light therapy!  Red Light Therapy has trended back and is one of those tried and true treatments. This non-invasive treatment brightens skin, reduces wrinkles, and promotes cellular healing while giving you a mood boost.

Our Expert Opinion: We are obsessed with Red Light Therapy! Great for winter blues and overall skin health. Haven’t tried it yet? Check out our website to book your first Red Light Therapy appointment.

Collagen Patches

Great to decrease undereye puffiness and help brighten your dark circles. Pro Tip: If you are a fan of Gua Sha, we suggest applying a collagen patch under your eyes to continue to depuff your eyes afterward. Keep them chilled in the fridge to refresh your under eyes in the morning.

Our Expert Opinion: You can find collagen patches anywhere, like Amazon or in stores.

Snail Serum

Otherwise known as Snail Mucin, continues to trend because this ingredient is known to increase skin hydration. Before you run out and find snail mucin, know that hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, collagen, and allantoin are just as effective and already in your bathroom cabinet. Our Expert Opinion:  Stick to ingredients that focus on hydration, such as our Hyaluronic Concentrate Serum paired with our Lifting Complex Serum. And to hold in all that extra moisture, our NEW Collagen Gel Moisturizer gives a silky finish and increases hydration in the skin.

Korean Sunscreen

We know American sunscreens are full of chemicals or leave an ugly white cast on the skin. With advanced filters and a lightweight feel, Korean Sunscreens are trending. Here’s the catch: not all the new UV filter ingredients are FDA-approved and are chemical-based. The ingredients used for the advanced UV filters are:

✔️ Uvinul A Plus
✔️ Tinosorb S

Uvinul A Plus: “diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate” is a photostable UVA absorbing ingredient. It has been studied to be an effective ingredient to protect against UVA radiation. We don’t believe in using chemicals to protect against the sun.

Tinosorb S: “bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine” protects against both UVA and UVB rays by deflecting and absorbing the heat. This ingredient is NOT FDA-approved so you can only find it in European skincare or K-Beauty products.

Patch testing is a MUST for Tinosorb S, as it has the potential to cause dermatitis in sensitive skin or those suffering from eczema. A study done by PubMed states, “Sunscreen constitutes a potential cause of eyelid or facial allergic contact dermatitis, and should be considered in patients with refractory eczema on these locations. We report a patient sensitized to several emerging allergens such as bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine (Tinosorb S), Scutellaria baicalensis extract, and propylene glycol with an eyelid dermatitis.

Our Expert Opinion: Stick to Zinc Oxide-based sunscreens that are mineral-based and act like a mirror to deflect UV rays away from the skin. We love our ISDIN Sunscreens because they’re lightweight, effective, and don’t leave a white cast.

Hypochlorous Acid Spray (HOCl)

Beneficial to killing bacteria on the skin. However, for ingredients that remove bacteria, we must remember that just like the gut, our skin needs good and bad bacteria to keep our skin barrier healthy. In a study done by PubMed, they state, “Research has also shown that the physiochemical properties of HOCl after application to skin are highly dependent on both pH and formulation stability.”

Our Expert Opinion: Quality Matters! Ensure you’re using a well-formulated product. If your skin barrier is compromised, this product is not the right choice.

Centella Ampoule

Also known as Gotu Kola, an ingredient that has been used in ancient Chinese medicine for thousands of years and has been used to heal wounds, burns, and other inflammatory internal and skin issues. Centella ampoules have healing properties for calming acne and sensitive skin.

Our Expert Opinion: Gotu Kola has been on ingredient lists for many years. Our NEW Collagen Gel Moisturizer from Nelly DeVuyst contains this incredible ingredient

BioRePeel

Last but not least to make the list is our fan-favorite, the BioRePeel! Known as the “no-downtime peel” it is gentle, safe, and effective on the skin. The BioRePeel is safe for all skin types, including our sensitive skin clients. The BioRePeel heals acne, reduces acne scarring, and improves skin texture. We can’t say enough about this peel!

Our Expert Opinion: If you haven’t tried the BioRePeel – what are you waiting for??  You will be surprised how awesome it is!  Clients rave about it and so will you – we are confident you’ll love it.
